Every spring the School of Architecture hosts its annual Design Showcase. Students and alumni are invited to exhibit their design work and attend an evening reception in order to get feedback, network and exchange contact information. Since 2005, hundreds of NJSOA students, both past and present, have benefited from this annual event.
Since 1993, the School has run a mentoring program that matches an average of twelve students per year with particularly successful and accomplished business executives, educators, judges, architects, administrators, and entrepreneurs for a year-long interactive experience.
We have always tried to anticipate the forces that change the professional climate. In our curricular planning, we make every effort to foresee the needs these forces will create in our students’ professional lives well beyond their graduation from NJIT. Such prognostications about future trends allow us to position the School so that our graduates are well-equipped to deal with the challenges that will face them. Furthermore, we try to anticipate the needs of the profession to ensure that our graduates can become active agents of change throughout their careers.
The Career Development Services (CDS) provides a number of resources to NJIT students and alumni seeking professional employment. These include the Career Resource Center, an extensive collection of career planning materials; student career fairs and resource information; Career Advisement on career development and employment issues, including career testing and on and off campus professional recruitment activities; workshops; general internship information and the Kauffman Entrepreneur Internship Program, a three-credit course that introduces students to the basics of starting a new venture; and job postings.
Assistant Director Sharon Gilbert is the liaison working with students from the New Jersey School of Architecture. CDS is located in Campbell Hall next to the School of Architecture. For more information, please contact CDS by phone (973-596-3100) or fax (973-596-6364).
