SCHOLARSHIPS AND AWARDS  

  

NJIT Alumni Association Student Recognition Award
A fourth or fifth year undergraduate student is recognized by the NJIT Alumni Association for an outstanding individual project.

 

NJSOA Medal
The New Jersey School of Architecture Medals, sponsored by Ronald Schmidt & Associates, P.A. are awarded to the outstanding undergraduate and graduate students for academic achievement and design excellence throughout their career at NJIT. The Architecture Medal is the highest honor presented to a graduating student by the New Jersey School of Architecture.

 

AIA Henry Adams Medal and Certificate
The American Institute of Architcts awards medlas and certificates to the graduating students who have achieved the highest scholastic records in the Bachelor of Architecture and Master of Architecture degree programs.

 

Alpha Rho Chi Award
Given each year to the graduating Bachelor of Architecture student who has demonstrated the highest qualities of leadership and service within the School of Architecture community.

 

Herman C. Litwack Traveling Fellowship in Architecture
The award is made for an outstanding student enrolled in the graduate program to further enhance the educational experience through travel.

 

Herman C. Litwack Annual Scholarship
Given to the fourth or fifth year undergraduate student whose studio design work best exemplifies the integration of the construction and engineering disciplines into the creation of architectural form.

 

Hillier Group Award
Scholarship of $1,000 plus a promise of employment to the top student at the end of third year.

 

Masonry Contractors of New Jersey Award
Given to two second year undergraduate students who graduated from New Jersey high schools and have a minimum 3.0 GPA. The students have also expressed an interest in the use of masonry in construction.

 

New Jersey Carpenter Contractor Trust Annual Scholarship
Award presented to a student interested in developing communication and exchange of information between the architecture profession and the trades associated with fine carpentry and interior finishes.

 

J. Frank Perantoni Endowed Scholarship
To provide financial assistance to an undergraduate student who demonstrates design talent and a sensitivity to creating public space that will enhance and benefit community life.

 

The Rosen Group Architecture Design Scholarship
Awarded to a 3rd or 4th year student who has achieved excellence in design, leadership skills, academics, is active in community services, and has an interest in residential architecture.

 

Christopher W. Monsees Memorial Scholarship
Awarded to a student who exhibits design talent in the creation of public spaces, landscaping and urban planning and who demonstrates leadership qualities.

 

Travisano Scholarship in Design
Awarded to a first year undergraduate student whose studio work demonstrates excellence in the art of architecture and who has financial need.

 

Housing Scholar Awards
Awarded each year by the New Jersey Department of Community Affairs to a qualified group of service-oriented students. The students will receive salaries, training and complete internships in public sector jobs related to affordable housing.

 

The Littman Family Fellowship
The two women receiving the fellowship are first or second year graduate students returning to school to establish a second career as an architect. They must be outstanding overall students with GPA's of 3.25 or higher.

 

ARCNET Scholarship
An endowed schoarship awarded to a 4th year Bachelor of Architecture student in the top 10 percent of the class and who exhibits strong skills in structures, computing and math, and architectural construction. The student will be offered an internship with ARCNET.

 

York Hunter Construction Management Award
The scholarship is presented to an architecture student pursuing a dual degree in architecture and construction management. The recipient is creative, a leader, and possesses an entrepreneurial spirit.

 

Rothe-Johnson-Fantacone Scholarship
An endowed scholarship awarded to a third year Bachelor of Architecture student for excellence in computer-aided design. The criteria requires outstanding design talent utilizing imaging technology as a graphic tool.

 

Jarmel Kizel Architects and Engineers, Inc. Scholarship
An endowed scholarship awarded to an undergraduate student who has completed his or her third or fourth year and has demonstrated academic achievement, design skill, and leadership ability. The recipient will also have the opportunity to work for one summer with Jarmel Kizel.

 

The Thomas Group Newark Scholarship
Awarded to a 3rd or 4th year student who has achieved a high level of academic excellence.

 

AIA New Jersey Award for Excellence
Awarded to the fourth year undergraduate student who has exhibited the highest overall achievement in academics, design, history, theory, technology, and courses in the arts and sciences.

 

School of Architecture Excellence in Design Awards
Voted by the faculty, the awards are presented to the students who created the top design projects for each year of design studio.

 

AIA/AAF Scholarships
The American Institute of Architects awards scholarships to students in their final two years of a three- or five-year professional program, based upon academic achievement, recommendations, financial need, and a personal statement outlining career and professional goals.
