Department of New Jersey School of Architecture
Admissions for Prospective Students
Applications to undergraduate programs at NJIT are handled centrally, by the NJIT Office of Admissions.
Some of the criteria for application are different than for the rest of the university. For example, transfer students applying to the undergraduate programs in the School of Architecture and applicants to the MArch programs are required to submit a design portfolio containing reproductions of original drawings, paintings, prints, graphic designs, and photographs.
Graduate Admissions
Applicants to the M.Arch. Programs are required to submit a design portfolio containing reproductions of original drawings, paintings, prints, graphic designs, and photographs. These should be organized within a binder whose format is not less than 8" x 10" nor more than 11" x 14". Applicants to the professional degree, NAAB-accredited M.Arch., with little or no design background, may consider submitting examples of visual materials such as sketches, constructions, graphics and photographs. Students with previous design work in architecture who will be considered for advanced standing, must submit a design portfolio illustrating their development in architectural design. Portfolio is mandatory for applicants to the M.Arch. and/or M.I.P. post-professional degrees; portfolio submission for applicants to the non-professional MSAS program is optional. Please include a stamped, self-addressed envelope if the portfolio is to be returned.
